BLS Instructor Course
The American Heart Association BLS Instructor Course is for individuals who want to teach CPR. You must be 18 years of age and have a current unexpired BLS Provider Certification, successfully complete the BLS Instructor Essentials Online Course, and purchase the AHA BLS Instructor Manual and DVD bundle (links attached below) for the discipline desired to teach. Once you are certified, you will be qualified to teach the BLS Course for Healthcare Provider as well as the Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Course. If you would like to ONLY teach the Heartsaver Course, please contact the Training Center for further details prior to signing up.
All instructor candidates are required to be monitored teaching a full BLS class to complete the instructor requirements. Your class will be monitored via Facetime, Skype or Zoom. It is the instructor candidates responsibility to coordinate their monitored class. Your Instructor card WILL NOT be issued until monitoring is completed!
An ideal instructor candidate should possess a strong desire to teach, have the ability to facilitate learning and ensure students acquire the skills necessary for successful course completion, view student assessments as a way to improve individual knowledge and skills, exhibit excellent BLS performance & problem-solving skills, have the ability to follow directions , follow through with tasks, and be able to communicate effectively in front of a group.
